21 DAYS ZAMBIA ITINERARY

DAY 1: 

Arrival at Livingstone Airport and transportation to Maramba lodge where clients will reside for a night in readiness for an exciting journey to Ngonye Water Falls.

DAY 2

Driving and camping at Ngonye water falls for a night. The clients will then have the opportunity to watch the water falls.

Ngonye water falls

The Ngonye Falls or Sioma Falls are a waterfall on the Zambezi River in Western Zambia, near the town of Sioma and a few hundred kilometers upstream from the Victoria Falls. Situated in the southern part of Barotseland, the falls are a difficult two- or three-day journey from the capital, Lusaka.

Upstream from the falls, the river is broad and shallow as it flows across Kalahari sands, but below the falls extensive white water rapids exist, as the river is hemmed in by gorges cut into basalt rock.

The surrounding area supports extensive wildlife, especially in the nearby Sioma Ngwezi National Park, and elephants are frequently seen by the river in the vicinity of the falls.

DAY 3

After a breathtaking, scintillating experience at the camping site and night repose, after morning you will proceed to Kalabo Camp which is a ZAWA conservation area for an overnight camping.

DAY 3, 4,5,6,7 

LIUWA NATIONAL PARK

Liuwa Plain National Park was designated as a game reserve of Barotseland by the king, Lewanika, in the nineteenth century and became a national park in 1972. Liuwa Plain is situated on the upper Zambezi floodplains of western Zambia and is bounded by the Luambimba and Luanginga Rivers. Liuwa is characterised by seasonally flooded grassy plains dotted with woodland. Wildlife [edit]

Situated in the Western Zambezian grasslands ecoregion, it is bounded by the Luambimba and Luanginga Rivers and consists of a grassy plain with numerous pans. Liuwa hosts the second largest wildebeest migration in Africa, offering spectacular sights of thousands of animals. Liuwa also supports globally important bird populations, with more than 330 bird species recorded.[2]

Predators include African wild dogs, spotted hyenas and lions, one of which was the famous lioness known as Lady Liuwa.[3]

Liuwa plain supports globally important populations of storks, cranes and other water birds. The vulnerable crowned crane (Balearica regulorum) and wattled crane (Grus carunculatus) are abundant, sometimes forming flocks numbering several hundred. Wattled cranes are the most wetland dependent of Africa's cranes and are therefore considered an excellent flagship species for wetland conservation. Globally, Liuwa is considered to be the fourth most important breeding site for wattled cranes. The arrival of the annual floods marks the arrival of a wealth of water birds and the spectacle of massive migrating flocks is not uncommon in Liuwa. These water birds include the vulnerable slaty egret (Egretta vinaceigula) and the whiskered tern (Chlidonias hybrida) for which Liuwa provides the only breeding area in Zambia

Camping will be done at Katoyana camp

. These basic campsites are run by community members, but they are supported by African Parks. All income from the camping fees goes directly into the communities in the park.

All the campsites are well maintained and have camp attendants. Firewood is also available for a small fee.

Situated 49.9km from Kalabo, Katoyona Campsite, in Liuwa Plain National Park, is neatly tucked into the edge of Katoyana woodland in the vast Nundu grass plain; encircled with scanty distant wooded areas.

This campsite provides two cold water showers, two flush toilets with septic tanks and one washbasin area.

DAY 9 - (Kalabo Camp)

You will proceed to Kalabo where you will have a night'ssleep under a camping invirinment.

KAFUE NATIONALPARK

[Kafue National Park is the largest national park in Zambia, covering an area of about 22,400 km².Kafue has a superb range of antelopes as well as large herds of red lechwe and puku, with smaller groups of zebras and blue wildebeest in the Busanga Plains around June, when it starts to dry out. Across the northern half of the park, there's a good range of mixed bush environments. Kudus, bushbucks, elands, reedbucks, duikers, grysboks and defassa waterbucks are all frequently seen in Kafue. Lions are relatively widespread all over the park, but the larger males are increasingly uncommon, with inevitable consequences for numbers as a whole. Prides stalk through nervous herds of pukus and lechwes nightly, using the natural drainage ditches for cover with deadly efficiency on the Busanga Plains. The Kafue River and its tributaries themselves are a hive of activity and home to pods of hippopotami and a few of the largest crocodiles in southern Africa. Elephants are commonly seen particularly along the Kafue River and around Lake Itezhi-tezhi. Leopards remain very common throughout the main forested areas of this park, though they are seldom seen on the open plains. Spotted hyenas are seen regularly, though not often, throughout the park. Cheetahs are not common anywhere, but they are most frequently seen in the north of this park, where they seem to be thriving. Occasional sightings of Cape wild dogs occur all over the park which is one of Zambia's best strongholds for them.

DAY 10- KASASUSHI LODGE

Peacefull repose at this exclusive lodges is succeeded an indulging encounter with the wild world.

Day 11

Two involving Game drives in the morning and afternoon will give a total insimilation into the wildeness life.Nothing surpassed the exploration of unalloyed nature.

DAY 11& 12 - MAKUYUKUYO CAMP

Mayukuyuku Bush Camp is located on the banks of the Kafue River in one of the most picturesque spots in Kafue National park.

Mayukuyuku (meaning water hitting rocks) is situated between the lightly wooded tree line and the Kafue riverbank.

We are just downstream of a number of small rapids hence our name and we face a small island, so there are spectacular views in many directions; this often gives you good wildlife sightings when in the camp. This small, intimate camp has just 4 luxury en-suite permanent tents under thatched roofs with their own verandahs and hammocks, each one overlooking the river.

4 game drives will be done here ( 2 in the morning & 2 in the afternoon of the 2 days) There is an open option to clients to either substitute any of the drives with either a Night drive or boat cruise.

DAY 13, 14 &15 -KAFUE CENTRAL NATIONALPARK

Given the size this national park,there is no end exploraing it. The concentration of both the animals, the birds,the raptiles and trees will never suffice the eye. To full appreciate the diversity offered bt this park , a combination game drives and walking safaris will give you equal opportunities to experience the spirit of nature at close proximities. This is an chance to capture photo to send home and build lasting memories. The 3 (three) days will be a fusion of 1 game drive and 1 walking safari per day. Should you desire a Night Drive or Canoeing in any of the days , this option is open .

DAY 16- HIPPO BAY

You will then travel to hippo bay for a continued expedition of Kafue National Park .Have anencounter with the Hippo at close range. Camp and relax for more attractions

Hippo Bay, Camp is the ideal location to relax on the Itezhi Tezhi lake.

You can relax whilst overlooking the lake, shimmering silver in the midday sun with the striking remains of the trees that once thrived on these plains providing a perch for several Fish Eagles. Even although Musa Gate is just 20 minutes drive, feel secluded in this spot of Eden between totally relaxed Puku, scores of Crested Guinea Fowls and, of course, Hippos singing.

DAY17,18,19- HIPPO BAY

These three days will alternate Wlaking Safaris and Games Drives

Walking Safaris

Walking at a leisurely pace through the bush, with a guide and armed scout affords the opportunity to get closer to nature; we concentrate on both fauna, flora and spoor.

Game Drives

Early morning and sundowner game drives in open vehicles. The sundowner drive turns into a night drive that reveals the nocturnals.

DAY 20

This marks the end of this excursion as you will drive dack to Lusaka for last night in Zambia at Olympia Lodge.
